I have to respectfully disagree with this.
Festivals, holidays, events - they are all about (1) the anticipation of something and (2) being surprised when that thing occurs.
Providing hints and information ahead of time is the easiest way to ruin that "surprise", which takes a ton of the fun out of the event.
I personally love the fact that they gave pigs to everyone in a district that had the foresight of collecting chef items. In many instances, to receive a pig, it required teamwork (something that is rarely seen outside of PvP in Guild Wars). Actually seeing chatter in districts trying to ensure that all chef items were present, seeing people give items to others for free to make sure the chefs are satisfied, seeing people buy items from entrepenuers for the good of everyone in the district - now that is showing a bit of community that Guild Wars has been lacking.
For those that have gotten used to holiday events being "work" and a "time for money making" - you simply took a risk, and the risk did NOT pan out. That is why you are disappointed...but it isn't Arena-Net's fault for your risk going against you. The lack of information is what you tried to capitalize on, and sometimes that doesn't work.

Is there any proof/evidence that Lucky Aura actually effects crit ratio?
Personally i think the event started very well. Rollerbeetle was fun, though a little buggy (no pun intended). Some new quests etc.
But it started to trail off a bit by the second day. The only real mini-game they'd povided (Rollerbeetle Racing) was losing its amusement value. The rubber banding, lag, insane amount of luck needed to get the right combo to get a decent score...
Seemed a sort of anti-climax too. The Minitaure Pigs that were so wanted the first 2 days through fortunes, fustrating many people were given away as freebies for turning up in the first 300 districts of Shing Jea. Very dissapointing end really.

The OP doesn't sound like he had fun due to the "surprise." Along with a lot of other people in the topic.
And you are wrong about festivals, holidays, and events; only some people believe it's about anticipation and surprises, other people believe it's all about capitalism and making money by manipulating the idealistic fools. The latter feeds upon the former. Darwin would approve.
Although ArenaNet may have pleased the former with the Minature Pigs, they severely annoyed the latter.

I thought this even was a complete waste, that game is pretty fun but outside of that it was insanely useless.

Overall I think the event was great - new minigame, new minipets for lots of people, new hats!!
I say this as someone who spent many many hours trying to find all the chef items yesterday and pretty much got them all.
The only thing I'm disappointed at is that I'm in the exact same boat as people who entered the district and did afk.
Two improvements were needed :
1. More tokens for each ingredient given - say 50 or 100
2. If you personally managed to get and give ALL ingredients you would get a SPECIAL prize - like a celestial pig for instance.
Getting all the ingredients is difficult - you should be rewarded accordingly.
But I'm not letting that ruin an otherwise excellent event....

I agree. However, if you look at A-Net's track history, they really don't put their primary focus on attempting to make the capitalistic group happy. The addition of inscriptions and removal of "pre-nerf" items are classic examples.

I actually had fun with this event. Collecting the chef items was an adventure in itself and wasn't a give me. I was surprised to see I had gotten a pig after the celestial had come and gone but collecting the chef items I guessed paid off. I would have liked to see a few more side quests or mini quests but all in all I rather enjoyed the event.
Honestly people complaining about the difficulty of getting the chef items are in my own opinion just plain lazy. It's sad when you see people asking others to run a mission for them for 5 K or more simply to get further in the game with out having to work for it and unfortunately many GW players are like that any more. The events always bring the lazy to these forums complaining but had something been given for free they would have been happy as a PIG in mud.

So what you're saying, Zinger, is that Anet made the good people happy and the evil people annoyed? Cool. Good day's work, Anet!
I got a pig the hard way, and then another one was just handed to me at the end. Know what? I'm still happy. ^_^ Although my wrist is sore from all that beetle racing.
I like my new hat, too.

A little self testing easily proves it, get a sin with 0 dagger mastery and 13 in critical strikes then go and attack something, you will see every hit made netting you your 3 energy.

I personaly get my mini big within 20 bag....so I cant talk about how I was cheated over the "pig for all" final.
ya, it is pig for all, should had made it "players who have all 5 dishes" not the "district with all 5 dishes".
I love the rollbeetle race, its fun=D(and it dance) The only problem I have with it is the lag, and extreem luck depending. I am still trying, but unless the godess smile upon me, I dont think I will make it to the top 100 without more superbeetle.(average once per race clearly not enough)
However I do find this special pvp fun, so even if I didnt made it to the top 100 its fine.
Personaly the final is kind of funny on my end. I never sold or even try to sold my piggy(mainly because I dont like to do business during my own time), but I do see a lot of people claim piggy is super rare, and how they going to made XXk after the event. Excuse me, but it does made me laugh to see all those "---- A-Net cheated my pocket". Yes, I personaly know someone who bought their pig, and yes I send whisper saying something like "dude...ouch". Its like watching people making bad business choice, you feel bad for them, but you are also glad its not you.
And No, this event arent the worest=P the worest are those you couldnt join even if you want to.....I want my PANDA>.>

The fact that I can say "I got my piggy on my 57th try!" made me feel happy and fairly lucky. Now I won't be able to say that, because everyone else will reply, "So? We didn't do anything and we still got our! Hahaha, sucker, noob."
See the problem? He's not saying that he doesn't want anyone to have them because he's selfish, it's because it USED to be a sign of either A) Luck or B) Alot of time... Both of which are worth showing off.

That is exaclty why me and my friend are so annoyed about this event, spend all that time trying to get ingredients, give it to the chef and everyone gets a pig, why should everyone get a pig when they didnt get the ingridenets??? anet might as well give everyone pigs for free as well as hats instead of having the chefs there. pointless and waste of time for the ingridients farmers!! anet either should have only give out pigs with the fortune tickets and/or give pigs to those who has collected all the ingridents (not everyone in the dis!!!)

Nope. They made the naive, weak-minded, and optimistic happy, whereas they made the thoughtful, intelligent, and pessimistic annoyed.
Evil always wins because good is dumb.

My complaint about the chef items is that even if you get all the ingrediants for one dish, your district still can fail and you get nothing. I had the bad luck of being in districts that failed twice. A lot of my work for nothing.
I think they should have guaranteed a reward to people who turn in all the ingrediants to one dish. It will still require community participation but at least those who took the effort to get all the ingrediants get something.
I dont really care that everyone gets a pig despite doing nothing. I'm not a capitalist, I'd just like to get at least a couple of pigs for myself and gf. I don't understand why some people are so worked up over the fact that everyone gets one. So what?

My god, they put alot of work into it and you call it trash? The questing in Shing Jea Island again was fun for me, I didn't feel like I got enough to do over there compared to Istan Isle.
The RollerBeetle racing had issues, but it wasn't totally bad. The main problem was the LACK OF GAMER POINTS. I asked Gaile about them the Sunday before this and she said "There will be oppurtunities for Gamer skills" (check chat log).
This proves not only that Anet doesn't even know their own titles but the fact they made it an impossible grind AND DIDN'T FIX IT DURING THE EVENT... WTF
